Key Responsibilities
- Design & Calculations: Perform cooling and heating load calculations, static pressure calculations, and psychrometric analyses.
- Drafting & Modeling: Develop detailed 2D/3D layouts for ducting, piping, and equipment placement using software like AutoCAD and Revit.
- Equipment Selection: Choose optimal HVAC units based on capacity, CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), and energy efficiency.
- Documentation: Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), material submittals, and Design Basis Reports.
- Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainability targets.
- Coordination: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to resolve clashes and construction discrepancies.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Software: High proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Hands-on experience with load calculation tools (Carrier HAP, TRACE 700) and duct-sizing software (McQuay, Hevacomp).
- Experience: Typically 2–5+ years in HVAC consulting or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) contracting firms.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication.
Key Responsibilities: Project engineer
- Design & Engineering: Develop HVAC system layouts, detailed drawings (2D/3D), load calculations, and equipment selection (chillers, AHUs, FCUs).
- Project Management: Create project plans, schedules, and budgets; monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Site Supervision: Perform site visits, inspect installations, and supervise contractors to ensure compliance with design documents and safety standards.
- Technical Coordination: Work with architects, structural engineers, and clients to integrate HVAC systems with other building utilities.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain project records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with local building codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE).
- Commissioning: Oversee system testing, troubleshooting, and handover to the end-user.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 3–5+ years in HVAC Projects or project execution.
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and load calculation software (e.g., HAP).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, psychrometrics, and energy management.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills
- Common Job Requirements in India (Bengaluru)
- Experience with Greenfield/Brownfield projects and knowledge of HVAC systems in pharma, commercial, or residential sectors.
- Ability to estimate project costs and generate Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Specific expertise in chilled water/hot water piping systems.
