About the role
Summary: A Guidewire Developer is a software professional who specializes in developing and customizing applications using the Guidewire platform. Guidewire is a widely used suite of insurance software products that helps insurance companies manage their core operations, including policy administration, claims management, and billing.
Responsibilities
- Designing, coding, and implementing new features and functionalities within Guidewire applications based on business requirements. This includes writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code using Guidewire-specific development tools and languages like Gosu.
- Customizing Guidewire applications to meet specific business needs by configuring workflows, rules, screens, and data models. Guidewire Developers should have a deep understanding of the underlying data structures and business processes of the insurance company and tailor the Guidewire applications accordingly.
- Integrating Guidewire applications with other systems and third-party applications, such as external data sources, policy administration systems, or payment gateways. This involves using technologies like web services, XML, and APIs to exchange data and ensure seamless communication between systems.
- To analyse, design, develop and implement systems to fulfil customers business needs, utilizing all phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC).
- To implement solutions for various business requirements developed according to Guidewire suite of products
- To provide an accurate level of efforts and estimates for development tasks
- To configure complex business rules and workflows
- To be able to work independently as well as thrive in a team environment.
Primary Skills:
- Certified Guidewire PolicyCenter Specialist or any other Guidewire certification is highly preferred
- Have an overall work experience ranging between 3-8 years, with Guidewire PolicyCenter implementation/maintenance project experience
- Have a strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of application development projects involving the implementation of complex business rules.
- Have previous technical experience in requirement analysis, detailed designs and implementation activities required to ensure the development, integration, and long-term maintenance of applications.
- Possess previous experience in one or more of the following areas:
- configuration and development of various areas of Guidewire Transactions, Job configuration,
- Experience in implementing multiple LOBs, Forms Management, Administration, Account Management, Contacts and so on.
- Configure, build & develop Guidewire components using GOSU, Wizards, PCF, Data Model, Workflow, Activities, Product Designer etc
- Have previous experience with using any of the following – XML, GUnit, Jenkins / GIT /TFS etc,
- Have previous experience in using any of the app servers like IBM WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss, TomCat etc
- Have previous experience in using any of the DB Servers like SQL, Oracle or DB2
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
