Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Designer to join our bespoke furniture & lighting manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate will have a background in bespoke furniture design or experience with a leading international property consultant. This role involves collaborating with clients to offer customized furniture solutions and designs for large coworking formats, malls, corporate offices, club houses, offices and other commercial spaces. The Lead Designer will combine design leadership with sales and client collaboration to drive business growth and ensure exceptional client satisfaction.
Job Includes- 30% Designing+ 70% Business Development
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership:
- Lead, identify and build the design team in creating innovative, customized furnitures and lighting that align with the company’s brand and client specifications.
- Oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure design feasibility and adherence to manufacturing capabilities. Should have experience in drafting BOQ’s, production drawings, finish approvals and BOM creations in detail.
- Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and techniques to maintain cutting-edge design standards.
Client Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and translating them into bespoke design solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their vision and preferences.
- Conduct regular client meetings to present design concepts, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments.
- Provide exceptional customer service and address any client concerns promptly and effectively.
Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and Participate in client pitches, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling custom furniture solutions tailored to commercial spaces.
- identify & c ollaborate with the sales team at differeny geographies to develop and execute strategies that align with market trends and client demands to gain sales traction.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Coordinate with other departments, including production, logistics, and quality control, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project progress, resolve any issues that arise, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency.
Team Development:
- Mentor and guide junior designer ( freelancers), fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
- Provide feedback and support to help team members grow professionally and improve their design skills.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 8- 10 years of experience in bespoke furniture design or a similar role within a leading international property consultant, with at least 2-3 years in a senior design or leadership position. Experience in designing for large retail formats, malls, and corporate offices is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity and expertise in custom furniture design for commercial spaces.
- Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
- Proven sales experience with the ability to drive business growth.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, 3Ds max or similar.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
