Linux (Plesk) Engineers role with us is a strategic bridge between development and IT operations, taking on operational tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of complete infrastructure and its various Hardware / Software components. They are responsible for monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of software systems.
They work on assignments (comprising of but not limited to) preventing incidents, managing infrastructure, building effective monitoring systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of complete infrastructure. This role works closely under the supervision of Function lead / Team lead / Site Reliability Engineering Manager to help the organization meet its desired vision.
Responsibilities
- Administering and managing Linux / Windows based infrastructure to ensure utmost uptime, redundancy, and performance.
- Optimizing web hosting services, including Apache, Nginx, and MySQL, etc.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Plesk hosting environments.
- Managing VPS hosting including resource allocation and optimization.
- Configuring and troubleshooting eMail hosting services including delivery issues, blacklisting, and spam filtering
- Administering MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL databases, ensuring security and backups.
- Configuring firewalls (iptables, CSF), load balancing, and network security settings
- Optimizing web hosting performance using server health logs, and uptime using tools like Nagios, and Prometheus, etc.
- Developing disaster recovery plans and conduct regular restoration tests.
- Automate system tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Work closely with the Product, Infra, and support teams to resolve customer issues.
- Documenting troubleshooting steps, server configurations, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Academics – Engineering degree in computer science or Information technology.
- Experience: 4 – 8 years in Webhosting organization.
- Certifications – Red Hat Linux, Plesk.
- Technical Skills: Linux, eMail hosting, Web services, Database hosting, Monitoring, VPS, Plesk, IPTables, CSF, Load balancing, Networking, Automation, and scripting, etc.
