Purpose of the Job:
As the Assistant Head Merchandiser for jewellery, you will play a crucial role in
the planning, development, and execution of the jewellery product line within our
company. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including
design, production, sales, and marketing, to ensure the successful creation and
promotion of jewellery products that align with our brand’s vision and customer
preferences.

o Validate & maintain costs within department budgets and ensure cost-
efficient methods of work.
III. Collaborate with other Verticals
o Interact with other departments like marketing, IT, inventory and sales to
ensure smooth work flow.
o Select designs for showcasing in catalogues and publicity material.
o Communicate design concepts internally to sales and marketing teams to
ensure it is carried forward.
IV. Best Practices and Benchmarking
o Research best practices in design and find benchmarks to measure
performance and innovation.
o Visit conferences and interact with design professionals and peers to
understand new developments in design.
V. Legal Compliances
o Ensure compliance with regulations and legal considerations.
VI. Reporting and Presentations
o Submit daily and weekly reports to the BOD on department performance.
o Preparation of presentations and reports for ELT meetings and design
reviews.
o Compiling monthly reports, grading designs and measuring individual and
department performance for PSQ calculation.
VII. Training & Development
o Assess training needs of the department and share knowledge.
o Training of sales teams on new collection themes and concepts for them to
sell more effectively.
o Training of sales staff in counter sketching.
o Training of interns as per their tenure.
VIII. Team Productivity and Time Management
o Structure the design team, manage workflow, organization chart.
o Guide and mentor designers in the team and manage work distribution.
o After the brief is collected from the respective departments the design
assignments are duly assigned to each member of the team depending on
his/her core area of strength.
o Manage the design team and resolve any issues within the team amicably.
o Provide creative design inputs to team members and evaluate their work.
o Ensure quality and productivity are balanced in the department output.
o Arrange for training sessions based on requirements of the company and
brief teams as needed.
o Manage design allotment based on availability of manpower and skill sets.
o Organize activities like Designer’s day and trips to relevant exhibitions to
collect feedback and inspiration.
o Focus on Cost cutting measures and have guidelines to manage
redundancies.
IX. Other Specific Responsibilities
o Product Line Planning
Collaborate with the Head Merchandiser and design team to develop a
comprehensive product strategy for the jewellery category. Analyze
market trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings to identify
opportunities and gaps in the product range. Assist in setting seasonal
product assortment plans, including product mix, price points, and target
demographics.
o Product Development
Work with designers and suppliers to translate concepts into viable
jewellery products. Monitor the development process, from concept to
production, ensuring timely execution and adherence to quality
standards. Provide input on design elements, materials, and finishes to
align with market trends and brand aesthetics.
o Inventory Management
Collaborate with the planning team to forecast demand and manage
inventory levels effectively. Monitor sell-through rates and take proactive
measures to address slow-moving products or overstock situations.
Implement strategies to optimize stock turnover and minimize stockouts.
o Supplier and Vendor Relations
Identify and on-board reliable suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors for
jewellery materials and production. Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead
times to ensure favourable business relationships. Conduct regular vendor
performance assessments and address any issues to maintain product
quality and delivery timelines.
o Market Analysis and Reporting
Monitor sales performance and analyse key metrics to identify trends and
opportunities. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior
management, highlighting category performance, emerging trends, and
actionable insights.
o Collaboration and Communication
Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments,
including design, production, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment of
objectives and timely execution. Coordinate with marketing to develop
strategies for product launches, promotions, and campaigns.
o Other Task and Activities
You will be handling other task and actives as and when informed by
Board of Directors.
