Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist with hands-on expertise in Azure and
Snowflake to join our dynamic team. This role will involve ensuring the effective management, security,
and integrity of data across our organization and its cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will also have
experience with Alation data governance tools and a strong understanding of data governance
frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain data governance frameworks and policies across the organization.
- Manage and govern data throughout its lifecycle in Azure and Snowflake environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data consistency, compliance, and security
within the Azure and Snowflake ecosystems. - Define and enforce data quality metrics and standards for Azure and Snowflake data.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of data governance practices, identifying areas for
improvement. - Develop and implement data classification, data lineage, and metadata management strategies.
- Work closely with Alation to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance objectives.
- Provide guidance on data privacy and security policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws
and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). - Provide training and support to teams on data governance best practices.
- Support the data stewardship and quality assurance processes to ensure consistent and accurate
data.
Skills and Qualifications: - Proven experience in Data Governance and associated best practices.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure (Azure Data Services, Azure Synapse
Analytics, Azure Data Lake, etc.). - Experience working with Snowflake and understanding its data warehousing concepts and
functionalities. - Familiarity with Alation is highly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of data security, data privacy, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA,
HIPAA, etc.). - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- Certifications in Data Governance or Cloud platforms (Azure, Snowflake) are a plus.
Preferred Skills: - Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or Alation.
- Familiarity with Data Quality tools and best practices.
- Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline management in cloud environments.
